Senior Prom

This past weekend was the prom at our local high school.

It is so neat to see all of the kids dressed up in formals and tuxedos.  Big smiles on their faces. 

But one girl in particular caught my eye.

She calls me mom.

Isn't she beautiful?

 I am so proud.

I know every mother thinks her daughter is the most beautiful girl at the prom.

I am no exception.

Prayers Needed

You might recall that my mom has had some very severe pain in her hips and down her legs.  She has been to a couple different doctors, had MRIs and xrays, and we finally have a diagnosis and a treatment. 

My mom has severe arthritis in both her hips and needs both hips replaced as soon as possible.

This is neither the diagnosis we prayed for, or the treatment we would have ever imagined.

But we know that God is good, all the time.  And we trust Him.

We meet with the surgeon on Wednesday to see how quickly he can schedule the surgery, and to see whether the surgeon will operate on both hips at once.

Please pray for the doctor that he will know exactly what to do, and for a speedy recovery.

And please pray for my mother.  She is very upset and certainly does not want to have her hips replaced.  But without a miraculous instantaneous healing from the Lord, she has absolutely no choice.  She can barely walk to the bathroom and back without severe pain.

Please lift her up in prayer.  Thank you all so very much. 

Cows and Turkeys

We have cows on our farm.

See.

And our cows pretty much know their place.  Which is in the field. And you'll notice that "field" isn't very green yet.  Winter still has a pretty tight grip on Central Missouri.

We also have turkeys on our farm.  Lots of 'em.  And they pretty much know THEIR place.  Which is in the barn.

But once on awhile you get a rebel turkey.

A turkey that just can't understand that it belongs in the barn.

The rebel turkey wants to come in the house.

This is a picture taken from my living room looking outside.  The turkey is sitting on the brick ledge of my front window.

It pecked on the window like it was knocking on the door. 

That crazy turkey just wouldn't give up.

Here is the same turkey a day later, on my porch, begging to come in.

PLEASE LET ME COME IN!!!  I can imagine this turkey being William Wallace and yelling "FREEEDOMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!"  (Name that movie!)

I can tell you this.  I did NOT let the turkey in my house.  Turkeys STINK!!! 

Please pray for my sweet mother!!

I know, I know, I haven't posted in forever.  And I'm so sorry.  So please forgive me.  I promise to do better!  I really do.

But right now, I need your prayers for my mother.

Long story short, she has been having pain in her lower back, hips, and down her right leg.  It has been hurting for several weeks and the medications the doctor has given her just don't help.

So today she had an MRI.

We are waiting on the doctor to call with results, and a plan for how to make her feel better.

Would you please lift my mother before the Lord in prayer today?  I know that God is THE HEALER, and I know that He has everything under control. 

So please pray for healing for my mom, and pray that He would send her peace and joy.  She's been hurting for quite a while, and just doesn't feel very good.

Thank you all SO MUCH for your prayers!  And, just FYI, her blood pressure is normal, with medication, so thanks for praying for that!!

And I promise to catch up real soon!!!

Happy Life

I agree with this saying, but one thing is missing.  Jesus.

Knowing Jesus is the only way to a happy life.  The other sentiments are nice, but they aren't eternal.  Jesus is eternal.

Hebrews 12:1-2 says:  "Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."

So on this cold snowy January, look to Jesus.  He wants to be your EVERYTHING.  Trust Him.

Continue to Pray

My friend's husband was taken off of life support this morning.

My friend is a widow at 49 years old.

He leaves behind 4 children, and 4 grandchildren.

He was 56 years old.

I am heartbroken for my friend.

Please pray.

Serious Prayers Needed

Early last week the husband of a friend of mine went to urgent care.  He was sick with a bad cold, and was given antibiotics, steroids and cough medicine.  My friend came down with a cold over Christmas, and her husband was no better, so they both went to urgent care last Friday.

When the doctor examined her husband, his oxygen levels were found to be very low and he was transported to the hospital by ambulance.  Once at the hospital, they diagnosed him with pneumonia in both lungs and admitted him to the hospital.

Folks, it has gone downhill from there. 

He was transferred to ICU on Sunday in critical condition. 

On Tuesday they discussed transferring him to another hospital but his condition was too critical and they did not believe he would survive the transport.

Yesterday they found a small hole in one of his lungs and while trying to insert a chest tube his blood pressure dropped dangerously low.  They had to vent him, and sedate him.

He is now on a ventilator and they have inserted two chest tubes.  This afternoon he developed a fever of 105 degrees.

This man needs your prayers.  He needs prayers for healing.  I do not know if he is a Christian

Please, right now, take a few minutes and pray for this man.  He is 56 years old, and is the father of two daughters and two sons.  Pray for his family as well.  They need comfort and peace that only Jesus can give.
