Meet the Candidates

I mentioned several weeks ago that I am running for our local school board.  I have done very little in the way of "campaining."  But tonight the Community Teachers Association is holding a "Meet the Candidates" night.  Each of the board candidates was sent three questions and we will be given two minutes to respond to each question.  Ladies, I would ask for your prayers today.  I want the Holy Spirit to speak through me this evening.  My desire is that tonight, others would see Jesus in me.

Yesterday our Pastor spoke on the importance of putting God first in our every day lives.  Not letting the things of the world overshadow the eternal things. Yes we are in this world but we are not of this world.  So please, if you would, pray for God to use me tonight, in some way, for His glory.

And for those of you who are wondering, there is still no change in my Grandma.  She is still feeling good and exhibiting no symptoms of the cancer the doctors told us she had, praise the Lord!  However, trying to provide 24 hour care has been exhausting.  I am sad to say that very few family members have stepped up to help and those few of us who are helping are worn out.  The nursing home is literally across the street from my grandma's house but, of course, she doesn't want to go.  Please pray for His will in this circumstance.

  2. You are in my prayers. We need people like you to guide decisions that affect young folks. We need responsible, reliable and respectful people. I see how many important positions are filled with people who are only in the position for themselves. We need more people in the public positions to CARE. Thanking you for trying to make a difference. I applaud you for all your caregiving to your grandma. I am always surprised at how families don't always pitch in when it really counts. Sometimes they lose site on what's really important in the end. You will never regret that you did this. Hugs to you. Kim

  3. Okay, I just prayed that your words would glorify Him. And that you who are caring for your grandma would be given added strength and patience. That is difficult. Blessings*

  5. I just found your blog yesterday before your post. I hope things went well for you last night.

And I'll be praying for your gramma. A lot of nursing homes get a bad rap; there are some that are wonderful, too.

You have a lot on your plate. I pray you'll feel God's direction and love through all of this.

  6. Mercy! I took care of Dave's mother for six years and it was difficult, on both of us. Some days we loved each other and other days went at it hammer and tongs!
Thank you for working to make your community a better place; we need more truly committee Christians in public areas.
