I Hate To Admit It . . . . . . .

I hate to admit it, but the reason you haven't seen any pictures (or posts) on here lately . . . I have lost the USB cable to my digital camera . . . again.

You might remember, this has happened before.  I couldn't find that dad gum cable ANYWHERE.  So I ordered a new one.  And everything was just peachy keen.  For awhile.  Until I lost it again.

I've looked everywhere.  EVERYWHERE.  And its nowhere to be found.

So I did what I did the last time.  EBAY to the rescue.  And I ordered a new one, again.  And for a whopping $2.42 I have another USB cable headed my way.  I LOVE EBAY.

And now I figure that once I get the new one, the third cable I've had, I'll find the first one.  Or maybe the second one.  Does this kind of stuff happen to you??

I PROMISE that once I get that cable I will download pictures and show you what we've been doing this summer.

I do want to tell you that my 49 random acts of kindness was amazing.  There are so many opportunities to be NICE.  They don't have to be big things.  They don't have to cost a dime.  A smile, a kind word, a compliment, can mean the WORLD to someone.  Picking up a piece of trash on the sidewalk.   Might seem small, but it helps to make our world a better place.

So once I got to 49, I just kept going.  I want to be INTENTIONAL about seeking out opportunities to just be nice.

You can do it too.

Now, if UPS will just deliver that USB cable .. . . . .

Until then!!!

Help! 49 Random Acts of Kindness Dilemma!

My birthday is in July.  And yes, I will be 49.  Wow.  Can't even BELIEVE I will be 49.  'Cause I remember when I thought 49 was old.  And folks it wasn't THAT long ago.  Amazing what a little age does to your perspective isn't it??

We have never been big "birthday" people in our family, meaning birthdays are really not that big of a deal.  Even with our kids.  Yes, we got them a birthday present, but we never really went whole hog and made a huge deal out of birthdays.  It's just another day.

And since my birthday is in the summer we are always baling hay or getting calves ready for the fair, so typically my birthday comes and goes with just a nice dinner with me and my husband and kids, and that's really all I want anyway.

But this year, in celebration of achieving the ripe old age of 49, I want to give back.

I really have a great life.  I do.  No, its not perfect, of course.  Nobody has a perfect life (no matter how it looks from the outside!)  But I am very VERY blessed.

So this year I want to do 49 random acts of kindness to try to bless other people in some small way.  But here's my dilemma.

I seriously don't know that I can accomplish 49 random acts of kindness IN ONE DAY!  I mean, I'm no spring chicken anymore!!So I'm thinking about making the entire month of July random act of kindness MONTH?

Does it matter??

And really, shouldn't I be living my LIFE trying to be kind to everyone all the time?  Shouldn't I relly be going out of my way to be the hands and feet of Jesus constantly, and not just on one day, or even during one month.

I'd be interested to know your thoughts . . . 'cause my birthday month starts tomorrow!

Hope you all are staying COOL out there!!  My husband is trying to bale hay and cut fescue seed in between rain storms. I'd appreciate your prayers for him . . . he gets pretty stressed this time of year!

Hay, Hay, HAY!!!!

Well June is upon us.  And around here, June means hay time.

Due to the soaking wet weather we've had, we are actually about 2 or 3 weeks BEHIND on hay time.

We have had the coldest, wettest spring I can remember in a long time.

Our garden is behind.  I haven't even planted any flowers in my flower pots yet.

But the hot weather has arrived.  It was in the 90s Tuesday and Wednesday.  Nicer today, with highs only in the low 80s, and finally the humidity has subsided.

So here's what my handsome husband has been up to!

This is our baler.  It makes big, tight bales.

This is one of our hay fields.  Isn't it pretty?

Seriously.  I love to look at a field of freshly baled hay.  It just screams summertime to me.

And the smell.  Wow!!  If you've never smelled fresh cut hay you're really missing something.

Unless you have allergies.  Then, I'm GLAD this isn't smell-a-blog!!

These bales of hay, and the MANY MANY more we will bale before wintertime, will feed our cattle.

After last year's horrible drought we are reminded just how important it is to have lots of bales of hay ready for whatever mother nature throws our way.

So God made a farmer . . . . . .

Our Eyes Are On You

I saw this on Pinterest.  And it spoke to me.

Because so many times I run around not knowing what to do.

Something happens that I didn't expect.

And I don't know what to do about it.

Is my first thought to give it to God??  Sometimes, but not always.

Sometimes my first thought is "How am I gonna fix this mess?"

But that is not what our God wants us to do.  He wants us to trust Him.  He wants us to let go of our circumstances and let Him take control.

And while we're waiting for Him to take care of everything, He wants our eyes on Him.

Because when our eyes are on Him we experience peace in the midst of the storm.  When we are looking at Him, we aren't looking at the problem.

Lord, help me to ALWAYS keep my eyes on You.

A Time To Sow . . . . .

This has been the strangest spring I have ever seen.

We haven't really even HAD spring.  It has been cold.  And it's been wet.   And it's been COLD.  And it's been WET.  And then it warms up a day or two.  And then it snows again (yes, we had snow last Wednesday, April 24th).  Yesterday it was 81 degrees.  Today it is 51 and raining.

Our garden is way behind.  I mean WAY behind.  We have a few onions out, and some lettuce and that's it.  And the lettuce isn't coming up yet.  I can't think of a year where we have ever planted anything in May.  'Cause my Grandpa always told me "you can't plant in a month that doesn't have an 'r' in it."  And May doesn't have an 'r'.

So here's what we planted yesterday.  Corn.  (AND FOR THE LIFE OF ME I CAN'T GET THIS PICTURE TO GO IN HERE ROTATED TO THE LEFT???)

First we had to till the garden.

Then put the corn in the planter and plant.

Doesn't that look NICE!

Hard to believe that in a few weeks there will be little shoots of corn coming up out of the ground.  That is, if it dries up and warms up.

Oh, and in case you're wondering . . . it's raining again right now.

And it's COLD.  COME ON SPRING!!!!!
